The 'Gwynt y Ddraig' snare drum was meticulously crafted with Gethin Davies at its core, tailored to deliver the massive sound he demands. This limited edition signature snare drum represents a handmade masterpiece, with a stunning finish both inside and out that renders each snare drum absolutely gorgeous.


Environmental consciousness is integral to every stage of the build process. All products used on this drum (as well as all our others) are water-based, and the veneers are certified sustainable. In our commitment to sustainability, we take a step further by replanting a tree for every drum we sell, ensuring that we give back to the environment that inspires our craftsmanship.

The Gwynt y Ddraig snare drum stands out as a versatile masterpiece, boasting clear attack and abundant projection. However, its true excellence shines when tuned to higher frequencies, delivering a dry and tighter sound characterized by a bright attack and remarkable projection clarity—making it adept at cutting through any musical style. Alternatively, when tuned lower, it produces a warmer tone, offering a more 'traditional' sound.


In the creation of this drum, we meticulously hand-select birch veneers, cold-pressing them into plies. These plies are then carefully placed into molds, allowing them to dry for 24 hours—a process that exemplifies the Tarian cold pressing hallmark and ensures supreme shell quality.


The 15-ply shell, cold-pressed and handcrafted, is exclusively made from 100% Scandinavian Birch, cross-laminated for maximum strength. The drum is adorned with premium brass-plated hardware, providing both aesthetic elegance and structural durability. The Gwynt y Ddraig snare drum represents a harmonious fusion of craftsmanship and versatility.

  • Is there a difference between Gethin's drum and the one I buy?

    The primary distinction lies in the finish of the drum. Gethin's signature snare is hand-painted, whereas the ones available for sale come with a wrapped finish. If you have a preference for a hand-painted version, this option is available, but it comes with a doubling of the cost.
